DJ uses Groupon to attract new customers

1

A local Chicago DJ troop has taken to the crowd-sourcing deal website Groupon.com to attract potential customers. His offer: 56% off a wedding DJ packages valued at $675 according to the listing. This kind of deal seems almost to good to be true, especially considering the fact that Groupon.com charges a whopping 50% from any sale acquired through the site. Star Plus DJs, the company behind the offer, is probably banking on a rush of fresh customers to offset its losses. A typical DJ wedding package runs in the high thousands of dollars when customers add in lighting and premium sound packages.

Twitter DJ Publishes Song Names In Realtime From The Booth

0

A recent study revealed that 80-85% of “tweets” on twitter are totally useless “what am i doing now” posts. I have a twitter account myself but haven’t been compelled enough to actually sift through the 20-30 tweets just to get to a few, if any, useful ones.

Twitter DJ is an example of a creative and innovative way to leverage the power of twitter to connect with your audience in real-time. Developed by DJ Producer and label owner, Richie Hawtin, Twitter DJ broadcasts the track names of the current song live to Twitter.

It uses Traktor’s broadcasting technology to tweet using the DJ’s twitter account. That means that his followers will be able to know exactly what he’s playing. How many times have you wondered what the name of that hot track was when you were on the dance floor? It’s a cool way to promote songs and artists and connect with your audience at the same time.

Hype Machine Tracks Online Music Trends

0

The Hype Machine is a website dedicated to tracking online music trends across popular blogs on the web. It tracks what songs are hot by gathering data on what songs bloggers are talking the most about.

The website collects this data by partnering with major music blogs around the web. Whenever a link to an mp3 is posted to a blog, the Hype Machine indexes this, much like Google does, and sorts this data. In addition, it also gathers data from twitter.com by crawling through tweets and hashtags for links to music files.
